Join NowTo become a Commissioned Officer in the Indian Armed Forces, one has to mandatorily undergo the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview.
SSB interview process is a compulsory stage to be passed by each candidate who wishes to become an officer in Indian Armed Forces. SSB interview is a cycle of different testing activities that ranges for five days and is directed by three distinct officials Interviewing Officer (IO), a Group Testing Officer (GTO) and a Psychologist.
SSB Interview consists of two stages i.e. Stage-1 and Stage-2. Stage-1 has OIR test and PPDT, Stage-2 has Psychological Tests, GTO Tasks, and Personal Interview. SSB Interview ends with Conference on the last day.
Screening: The screening process is to pick up some potential candidates from all those who have reported for the particular entry. It consists of few activities like
OIR Test: Also known as officers’ intelligence rating test, it is a Verbal and Non-verbal Test.
PPDT: Also known as picture perception and discussion test.
Psychological Test: It is a battery of projective tests, all tests are used to check the psychological suitability of the candidate to be an officer. Candidates are required to write their responses based on the particular test.
Thematic Apperception Test [TAT] Word Association Test [WAT] Situation Reaction Test [SRT] Self Description Test [ SD]
GTO: It has a series of outdoor tasks, the main aim of this task is to judge the qualities during group performance -
SSB Interview questions and answers play vital role in the assessment of the candidate.
Conference: Each candidates will be facing all SSB board members.
All assessors collectively decide the suitability of the candidates, for few of them who are on the border line, may face certain questions, which can be decisive.
